Preston Blackman from Savannah State has earned StatSheet's MEAC Player of the Week award for January 21st. Deron Powers from Hampton has won StatSheet's MEAC Freshman of the Week. And last but certainly not least, Savannah State's Arnold Louis is the StatSheet MEAC 6th Man of the Week.

Blackman was the best in the MEAC in scoring (27.5 pts per game). He also registered great stats in rebounding (2 per game), shooting (50%), and assists (4 per game). The Savannah State senior played well for the Tigers in wins against Morgan State and Florida A&M.

Blackman led scoring for the Tigers with 41 points while adding 4 assists in a close 78-70 win against Morgan State. That was followed by a team-leading 14 points plus an additional 4 assists in a narrow 57-55 win over Florida A&M.

This is the first time this season that Preston Blackman has been named StatSheet MEAC Player of the Week. The runner-up this week is senior Adrian Powell from North Carolina A&T. Honorable mention goes to Ray Willis, a senior from North Carolina Central. The highest ranking player from Bethune-Cookman was Adrien Coleman who finished 20th.

StatSheet MEAC Freshman of the Week: Hampton's Deron Powers

Deron Powers averaged 34 minutes while starting both games for Hampton. He bested all MEAC freshmen in both scoring (17.5 pts per game) and assists (10.0 per game). In a 70-64 win over Quinnipiac, Powers topped the Pirates in scoring with 16 points and tossed in 10 assists. In an 80-78 loss to Morgan State, he led scoring with 19 points plus 10 assists.

This marks the second time this season that Deron Powers has won the StatSheet MEAC Freshman of the Week. Kevin Mays from Maryland-Eastern Shore gets runner-up. Bruce Beckford from North Carolina A&T receives honorable mention.

StatSheet MEAC 6th Man of the Week: Savannah State's Arnold Louis

Senior Arnold Louis, a 6-7 forward, averaged 26 minutes of action over the two games for the Tigers. In the win against Morgan State, Louis put up 5 points and 12 rebounds. Then in the victory against Florida A&M, he racked up 11 points and 8 rebounds.

This is the second StatSheet MEAC 6th Man of the Week honor for Arnold Louis. Jeremy Underwood, a junior guard from North Carolina A&T, is runner up. Ishaq Pitt, a sophomore guard from Maryland-Eastern Shore, earns honorable mention. Bethune-Cookman has yet to win StatSheet MEAC Player of the Week.
